Join a fast paced, high energy, and dynamic team that is modernizing mining for the futureFind out more about RACE21™ on our website!Reporting to the Lead – RACE21™, the Lead, Plant Transformation – RACE21™ (known at Teck as the Senior Engineer, Processing – RACE21™) is responsible for supervising and mentoring the RACE21™ Implementation Team at our processing facility. This is an exciting opportunity to implement an ambitious program of sensor and control systems renewal, advanced process control strategies, and proactive asset health monitoring, in collaboration with plant process engineering, maintenance, and operations functions.To be successful, we are looking for someone who has excellent interpersonal, relationship management and written and verbal communication skills, who can influence, build consensus, and lead a team with diverse backgrounds. The ability to communicate concepts effectively to all levels of personnel, and specifically to facilitate projects within the Agile methodology, would be vital for success. The successful candidate would also possess strong analytical, decision-making, strategic planning, change management and organizational abilities, with an ability to deliver results in fast-paced, dynamic environments in an independent manner.Join us in the breathtaking Elk Valley of British Columbia.   • Be a courageous safety leader. Adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Supervise and mentor a diverse group of technical personnel to accomplish site and project objectives.
  • Define, prioritize, and execute the processing department roadmap and long-term vision for analytics and technology products.
  • Bring projects through the whole life cycle by leading idea generating sessions, refining, and vetting ideas, scheduling, and budgeting, securing funding, and executing projects safely and successfully
  • Apply project management fundamentals for each stage of project planning, design, execution, operational readiness, and sustaining activities
  • Engage with subject matter experts, both internal and external to the site, in support of evaluating and operationalizing value creation initiatives
  • Support integration of effective change management processes at the site level and collaborate with end users on the requirements to successfully sustain the RACE21™ initiative after its hand-over to the department
Qualifications:
  • Engineering Degree in a related field, with an Automation and Controls focus; education in the Electrical or Process field would be an asset
  • Minimum 6 years of progressive, senior level, industrial experience; experience in the mining industry would be an asset
  • Proven dedication to ethical management behaviors and business, and reporting practices
  • Broad understanding of the business of mining and experience in articulating value propositions for strategic investments in technology
  • Strong project management experience
  • Knowledge of Advance Process Control, such as Pavilion 8
  • Knowledge of simulation (Matlab, loop tuning software) is an asset
