Job Description

Closing Date: October 31, 2022Reporting to the Manager, Financial Planning, the Supervisor, Financial Planning is responsible for compiling and analyzing monthly actual, forecast, and annual budget data for the Coal Business Unit (BU). This position facilitates accurate forecasts, budgets, and communication of business performance content at all levels of the business, and will be key to supporting BU leadership decisions makers.To be successful, we are looking for someone with strong critical thinking, analytical and decision making abilities, as well as exceptional attention-to-detail. This person has strong communication and teamwork skills, as they will be working with key stakeholders across our site, offsite and enterprise groups. Most importantly, this person enjoys leading by influence as they manage a small team of cost analysts and other financial team members.Join us in the breathtaking Elk Valley of British Columbia.   • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Ensure the accurate and timely completion of the monthly forecast and annual budget, and execute plans to constantly refine and improve these processes
  • Compile and report on BU financial and operational performance trends, compare historical and forecasted values using appropriate metrics, identify resulting implications, key actions, and potential opportunities or risks
  • Analyse and evaluate information captured from multiple sites and support departments, and prepare and present detailed information in an easy-to-understand format for various audiences including senior leadership, board and investor presentations
  • Develop and maintain financial models to assist in the validation of forecast and budget submissions, and predictive models to model key performance indicators and scenario analysis
  • Provide supervision, mentorship, and training to junior and new staff members
Qualifications:
  • Professional Accounting Designation (CPA)
  • Minimum eight years of accounting or finance experience; mining experience is an asset
  • Strong digital literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite® Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with the Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP, Atlas XL, and SharePoint would be considered an asset
