Job Description

Subsidiary: Miller Paving LimitedSummary:MacDonald Paving and Construction is part of Miller Paving Atlantic, based in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. MacDonald Paving and Construction provides the public and private sectors with road construction, paving, road and structure rehabilitation, engineering construction, aggregate- based materials, highway operations and maintenance services.As an Excavator Operator, You Will:

  • Safely operate 13 ton to 30 ton excavators to perform heavy civil work around pipelines, utilities, and piles in high traffic areas
  • Experience in sloping, trenching, lowering pipe, materials and tools and backfilling
  • Experience working with shoring and trench boxes
  • Ensure trench is excavated to the proper depth/grade
  • Conduct trench work, which meets OH&S requirements
  • Fill out and understand an equipment logbook
  • Perform daily service and preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with other team members
  • Operate equipment in a safe manner be willing to comply with Lavis’ safety commitments
  • Maintaining site cleanliness, and any perform general labour activity
  • Complete hazard assessments and attend bi-weekly safety meeting
What Youll Bring:
  • Able to read and interpret drawings as well as setup and use grade laser & pipe laser would be considered an asset
  • Must be able to finish grade would be considered an asset
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience operating an excavator
  • Must have demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Dependable, reliable, and team player
  • Flexible hours required to meet project timelines
  • Available to work at other locations in NB and NS as needed
