Job Description

ProjectThe Woodfibre LNG Project is located approximately 7 km west-southwest of Squamish, British Columbia. It involves the construction and operation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility on the previous Woodfibre pulp mill site, which would have a storage capacity of 250,000 m3 and would produce approximately 2.1 million tons per year of LNG.Woodfibre Management Ltd. is a privately held Canadian company based in Vancouver and a subsidiary of Pacific Energy Corporation Limited.PositionThe Sr Operations Technician - DCS Process is an integral part of Woodfibre LNG’s dynamic team. The successful candidate reports directly to Shift Superintendent. This role will be based on the Project Site, in Squamish, BC., and you will play an essential part in supporting the company’s operations team through the design development stage/construction/ CSU and operational phase of the project. During Operational Phase as a DCS Process Panel Operator on shift you will proactively monitor the process conditions and take action to ensure safe, efficient and environmentally responsible operation of the Woodfibre LNG Plant. Key Responsibilities:The successful applicant will:

  • During Project Phase and up to CSU Phase of the facility will attend required DCS Graphic Builds, ICSS FAT and SATs, OTS FATs SATs, Alarm Rationalization Workshops, HAZOPS, 3D Model reviews, P amp;ID verification and detailed Engineering reviews as requested.
  • Take a lead role in the development of standard operating procedures for the LNG process area of the plant.
  • Contribute to the development of site wide operating procedures and training materials.
  • Support the project regarding the facility Operability and Maintainability as well as all required Safety and Environmental aspects to operate an LNG Facility.
  • During CSU and Operational Phase oversee all control panel operations of the LNG process area and direct Field Operations accordingly to ensure safe and efficient operations of the Facility.
  • Support Commissioning of the project through loop checking testing of the DCS and safety systems.
  • Interface with Project staff, contractors, Woodfibre staff and management during all faces of Commissioning and start up.
  • Proactively monitor the status of plant operation and equipment performance at the DCS panel to mitigate threats to availability and reliability during their shift.
  • Support permit to work (PTW) including functionality/improvements, isolations standards, competencies, issuing, precautions, compliance, auditing, PTW manual improvement and authorization.
  • Ensure all equipment and sections of the plant to be handed over for maintenance is correctly isolated and in safe state for personnel to undertake tasks.
  • Support the development and implementation of check listsamp; routines for plant and equipment.
  • Timely prepare and deliver a correct plant daily shift report to the Shift Superintendent in support of safe and complete hand over at the end of shift.
  • Interface with Engineering for integrity monitoring, troubleshooting and compliance checks.
  • Interface with HSSE department for compliance monitoring and improvements.
  • Interface with other departments for support requirements and documentation.
  • Proactively support implementation of best practices
  • Coach and teach peer operators in panel training to achieve their full competency
  • Support input for plant risk register and the mitigation tracking process for operations department
HSSE
  • 100% compliance with company HSE policies and guidelines.
  • Champion HSE as a member of the LNG Operations Team.
  • Lead HSE Shift Meeting/ safety walks/audits if and when required.
  • Timely intervene to mitigate risks and ensure safety of personnel and plant.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to influence overall safety behavior of people working in the plant.
  • Ensure safeguarding systems checks lists are implemented/completed to agreed frequencies and standards.
  • Support Shift Operations Emergency Response capabilities are 100% met during shift period.
  • Support safe work practices for maintenance execution.
RequirementsRequired Experience:
  • 3-5 years LNG Experience. Minimum 10 years in Oilamp; Gas Production Facilities. APCI LNG technology experience preferred.
  • 4th Class Power Engineering diploma as a minimum.
  • Demonstrated experience in operations as a previous LNG DCS Process Panel Operator.
  • Previous experience during project phase including Commissioning and Start-Up.
  • Experienced in First Intervention Team during Emergency Response.
  • Fully versed in managing safe work through the Permit to Work system.

  • A valid driver’s license (with abstract) and passport.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • This role will be a combination of office and site-based role.
  • The position is based in Squamish, BC (Project Site), and work in the Company’s Vancouver Office as required.
