Job Description

ProjectThe Woodfibre LNG Project is located approximately 7 km west-southwest of Squamish, British Columbia. It involves the construction and operation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility on the previous Woodfibre pulp mill site, which would have a storage capacity of 250,000 m3 and would produce approximately 2.1 million tons per year of LNG.Woodfibre Management Ltd. is a privately held Canadian company based in Vancouver and a subsidiary of Pacific Energy Corporation Limited.PositionThe Quantity Surveyor is an integral part of Woodfibre LNG’s dynamic team. The successful candidate will be part of the owner #39;s team (PMT), supervising EPC contractor and managing all aspects of budgeting, providing cost and material estimates, drawing up projected budgets, and collaborating with the team to note any design changes and their impact on costs. This role requires strong analytical skills, effective communication abilities, and a keen eye for detail, while working in close collaboration with EPC contractors.Key Responsibilities:The successful applicant will:

  • Review construction plans and prepare quantity requirements.
  • Liaise with site managers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors
  • Measure and value the work done on site.
  • Prepare reports, analyses, contracts, budgets, risk assessments, and other documents.
  • Create accurate material and cost estimates and budgets; conduct cost analysis.
  • Evaluate project progress, benchmark quantities, and perform forecasting.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and best practices; conduct quality checks.
  • Scrutinize maintenance and material costs, as well as contracts, to secure the best deals.
  • Track materials and order additional supplies when necessary.
  • Document design changes and update budgets accordingly.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Travel between the office and various sites as required.
RequirementsRequired Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes and costs.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, CostX / PRISM /MARIAN or similar, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent negotiating and interpersonal skills.
Additional Requirements:
  • Experience working with large multi-disciplinary teams and contractors in a multicultural environment is an asset.
  • Communication/interpersonal skills – interacting with front-line workers through to management and all hierarchical levels.

  • The position is based in Squamish, BC (Project Site), with an initial stay period at the EPC contractor’s Office in Houston, followed by travel to the Module Fabrication Yard(s) in the Asia-Pacific region and a visit to the Company’s Vancouver Office as required.
