Job Description

Location: St. CatharinesProvince: Ontario (CA-ON)Assignment : PermanentThe St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation (SLSMC) is a not-for-profit management corporation responsible for the safe and efficient movement of marine traffic through the Canadian Seaway and the Great Lakes. Thirteen of the Seaway’s fifteen locks are situated between Montreal and Lake Erie and remain the assets of the Federal Government of Canada. The St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation employs approximately 475 persons in Ontario & Quebec and has operating units in the Montreal area, Cornwall and St. Catharines, Ontario.RoleThe System Support Technician is responsible to provide technical services and support related to computer systems and related information technologies, to ensure the effective operation and reliability of the Seaway system.Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, inspect, adjust, troubleshoot and repair computer systems and related information technologies.
  • Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems.
  • Analyze system performance.
  • Provide user and system-level support.
  • Maintain end-user accounts and permissions.
  • Maintain inventory of hardware and software assets.
  • Support applications teams throughout project lifecycles.

Experience and knowledge
  • Three (3) to five (5) years related practical technical experience, including software/hardware troubleshooting.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft desktop and server operating systems, Microsoft Active Directory and group policy implementation, MS Office, productivity applications and systems security in a corporate environment.
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems and their interaction with regional and Corporate systems.
  • Working knowledge of email and collaborative systems.
  • Knowledge of applicable procedures, rules, standards and safe work practices with respect to performing duties.
Education
  • College Diploma in Computer Science or related field
Certifications
  • CompT1A A+ certification or equivalent
  • Completion or enrolment in current Microsoft or other related certifications
  • Valid Class G (ON) or Class 5 (QC) drivers license and insurable driving record
