The Assistant Controller will supervise the accounting staff while reporting to the Controller. This permanent employment opportunity is based in the Winnipeg, Manitoba area. Apply with Robert Half today to join a well-respected company.Major responsibilities- Arrange numerous policies, procedures, and technical accounting analyses- Assist to ensure a competent, trained staff through goal setting, development, and regular assessment- Inspect and make Ad Hoc financial reports- Exceptional preparation and coordination of fiscal year-end audits- Fulfill the Company’s Canadian income tax return filing requirements in a timely manner.- Make relevant and timely reports on financial data analytics like actual spend against budgets/outlook, the monthly flash report, and key financial metrics- This position will be 80% reporting and 20% tax - Identify and develop process improvements to streamline reporting and improve team efficiency- Backfill for Controller as needed- Support accountability and the meeting of deliverables- Sustain implementation and secure adherence to accounting policies and proceduresJob Requirements:- Strong communication and social skills and able to receive criticism well- Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions- Strong technical background in public accounting (GAAP)- Ability to multitask and communicate effectively with individuals of all backgrounds- Profound knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems- Annual Financial Reporting experience preferred- Experience working in a Public Accounting firm Preferred - CPA certificationRobert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
