We value respect, diversity, integrity, care, compassion, and accountability.Reporting to the Manager, Programs and Services, Seniors Services, the Meals on Wheels Worker is responsible for learning and assisting with all aspects of the daily running of the Meals on Wheels Program and other food access programs.​​​​​​REQUIREMENTS

  • This position may be funded by Canada Summer Jobs
  • As per Canada Summer Jobs, these are mandatory requirements
    • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period;
    • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and,
    • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Respond to client concerns, issues or requests and follow-up and monitor as necessary.
  • Prepare and print daily route and order sheets for meal providers.
  • Liaise with meal providers.
  • Collaborate with volunteers and/or peer workers to achieve departmental goals.
  • Data entry including updating client files in database.
  • Provide support with the delivery of meals when necessary.
  • Provide support with shopping and food preparation for the Agency.
  • Projects as determined by supervisor or manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
  • Currently enrolled in, or recently completed, post-secondary education in Social Work or another related program.
  • Knowledge and understanding of working with seniors and adults with a disability or illness.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
  • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to accept supervision and seek counsel.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher) and database management.
  • Dependable, punctual and flexible.
  • Second language an asset.
  • Must be qualified to work in Canada legally for the employer.
  • Able to provide a Vulnerable Sector Screening check with a ‘Clear’ or satisfactory result that meets the operational requirements of the Agency.
  • Must have up-to-date vaccinations against COVID-19 with a vaccine that has been approved for use in Canada.
