Join a team that has the environment down to a science.Your OpportunityAn opportunity exists for a successful candidate to become a Business Center (BC) Practice Leader (BCPL) for Environmental Services for the Atlantic Canada Region.Reporting to the Regional Business Leader of Environmental Services for Canada East, you will focus on delivering project excellence with our local and regional clients.The BCPL leads by providing innovative project and design solutions, exceptional quality and execution that exceed client expectations. The BCPL works closely with other BC leaders to deliver professional services to clients.Your Key ResponsibilitiesDemonstrate strong leadership in the areas of communication, trust, problem solving, and mentorship.Lead health and safety performance of the BC, including the monitoring of leading and lagging indicators, communication of health and safety information and the investigation of incidents.Be a champion for business compliance, and inclusion and diversity, in the conduct of Stantec’s provision of services.Drive technical excellence for projects and proposals within the BC, as well as participate in regular national technical leadership initiatives and meetings.Lead and coordinate proposal development, and lead projects within area of specialty, enabling successful outcomes for our clients and beneficiaries.Oversee risk management and quality assurance related to projects and pursuits, including review of contracts, fees and proposals along with supporting internal and external audits.Lead or assign responsibility for management, needs assessment and provision of digital practice, tools and applications in support of the BC to deliver work.Be a champion for research and development initiatives, including sponsoring internal initiatives and involvement with the Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) program.Participate in all phases of project management including scope development, budgeting, planning & design, pre-construction, project implementation, project oversight and closure.Work closely with national sector leads to develop local and regional clients, including supporting account managers and providing supervision to local BC sector staff.Participate and lead (when required) marketing and business development meetings, client surveys, and local BC improvement plans including the development of the annual business plan, budget and other key performance indicators for the BC.Support and contribute to the development and execution of the national business strategy for environmental services, with accountability for priorities and key performance metrics, including topline revenue, utilization, gross margin, and operating income.Lead, challenge, and inspire technical staff (including coaching/mentoring developingyoung professionals) through substantive engagement and communication.Develop and manage training programs to aid in new service line delivery.Establish and grow productive, collaborative relationships internally within the company, and externally with clients.Support Stantec’s brand awareness through thought leadership and stakeholder engagement.QualificationsYour Capabilities and CredentialsPossession of the following personal leadership qualities: integrity, creativity, patience, tenacity, and commitment.Ability to balance project execution, business development, and BC leadership.Entrepreneurial minded with a core understanding of business and the challenges of an engineering and environmental consulting services provider.Experience in preparing comprehensive budget expenditures, overall project schedules, and in planning and managing revenue and expenses for a business unit.Strong technical background in environmental services.Team player with experience building, leading, and managing a team.Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to clearly convey and distill complex technical information to a variety of audiences.Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in a related field with a minimum of 10 years’ of environmental services work, leadership, technical, financial management, business development and consulting experience; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.Position will primarily work in an office setting.
