Job Description

Are you up for the challenge of growing our business and positioning OCWA as a Total Solutions Provider and leader in the industry Do you enjoy leading and engaging staff and developing relationships with clients and stakeholders in the industry If so, then consider the opportunity to serve as a Regional Hub Manager for the Huron Elgin Region.OCWA is seeking a proven, results-oriented manager to provide strategic leadership and overall management for OCWA operations to ensure the delivery of safe, reliable, cost effective, competitive and profitable water and treatment services to clients.The Region consists of two Class 4 Water Treatment facilities, multi system secondary booster station, related transmission systems and reservoir/booster stations. The Clients are highly engaged in the overall operations, capital works and optimization and research objectives.The two Water Treatment systems are respectively situated on the shores of Lake Huron and Lake Erie in proximity of lakeside communities with City of London approximately a 45-minute drive.What can I expect to do in this roleAs the Regional Hub Manager, you will:

  • Develop and oversee business unit strategic and financial plans; developing multi-year strategic plan, budgets and resource plans.
  • Be accountable for the business units health and safety performance and regulatory compliance.
  • Take accountability for financial performance and ensure client retention, growth and profitability.
  • Oversee client relationship management in the business unit, along with providing support/attendance with client and Board meetings.
  • Participate and bring expert advice to Client initiated programs ranging from technical, asset management, security, long and short term planning and innovation and research
  • Be accountable for the delivery of contractual obligations and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the team to identify business opportunities and deliver comprehensive water operations, management and advisory services to clients.
  • Manage human resources through effective leadership of the team along with promoting diversity and inclusion and Team engagement.
  • Lead the development and management of key projects in areas such as major capital works and implementation of new technologies to increase capacity, conserve energy and find operational efficiencies.
  • Integrate and implement OCWAs strategies, policies, programs, guidelines and procedures across the business unit.
  • Participate as a member of OCWAs Senior Leadership Team and actively contribute to the development and evaluation of client service objectives, business plans, performance measures, and issues management strategies.

Leadership Skills:
  • Experience leading employees while overseeing the management and administration of the provision of competitive and safe water treatment facilities.
  • Knowledge of human resources management practices, policies and guidelines.
  • Demonstrated analytical, consultation, negotiation and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated emergency management skills and knowledge
  • Leadership over the financial needs of the Region and collaboration with OCWA corporate Finance
Technical Skills and Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of the theories, practices and technical details of processes/techniques in the continuous operation of multi-site, technically complex water treatment and transmission facilities on a 24x7 basis.
  • Knowledge and understanding of SCADA systems and alarm monitoring, Computerized Maintenance/Asset Management Systems (Maximo) and applicable financial programs for budgeting and presentations.
  • Good working knowledge of federal, provincial environmental and health and safety legislation, regulations, codes, standards and amendments to comply with mandatory requirements for environmental and human health, safety and security.
  • Sound understanding and application of ISO 14001 standards.
  • Knowledge on electrical energy markets and IESO programs
  • Ability to conduct research and gather relevant information to develop clean water treatment service options for meeting future requirements resulting from emerging trends, technical advancements and enhancing system capacities.
  • Preference given to individuals that hold valid Operator Licenses and that can be designated the ORO of the facilities at the Class 4 level.
  • Class G Drivers license.
Other Essential Skills:
  • Knowledge of financial resources management to develop and manage department budget.
  • Knowledge of procurement policies and procedures to oversee all stages of acquisition of goods and services and prepare RFQs and RFPs, for operational, capital project and equipment requirements.
  • Ability to travel to facilities and attend site meetings and participate and support Team members in all aspects of operations and maintenance.
