TDCALA is looking for someone interested in part-time work providing childcare for one morning a week in Stirling for 10 weeks beginning October 4 to December 6, 2022, with possibility of another 10 weeks in January to March 2023. The time is from 8:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m on Tuesdays. There is an unpaid Christmas break from December 9, 2022, to January 16, 2023.Working with preschool-aged children belonging to newcomers and/or foundational adult learners, your main responsibility will be to care for the children while their mothers attend an English instruction class in a nearby room.You must be comfortable with children and their caregivers. On a day-to-day basis, you will be expected to provide a safe and welcoming environment for children aged 18 months to 6 years of age. You will lead the children in activities throughout the day to improve their English language, literacy, and social interaction skills.You will be a self-motivated, caring person who displays empathy for newcomers to Canada and English as a Second Language Learners. You will have demonstrated strong skills in time management and excellent oral and written English communication skills. You will be patient with children. You must have your own vehicle and a valid driver’s license. The successful candidate will be required to provide a police record check including a vulnerable sector check, as well as a Child Welfare Intervention Check. Preference will be given to applicants with previous childcare experience.All applicants are welcome but only those selected for an interview will be notified.DUTIES OF THE CHILDCARE STAFF:- Provide a childcare program for children 18 months to 6 years of age that focuses on developing early literacy and social skills. Schedule and run activities for children including crafts, story time, learning games.- Provide a safe and caring learning environment for the children.- Keep track of attendance and report absences.- Work cooperatively with other childcare workers, English class teacher, and other TDCALA staff.- Report any problems with children, staff or parents to the Executive Director.- Participate in professional development activities and staff meetings.- Help maintain an inventory of all resources and supplies.- Work cooperatively with the project manager; report successes and/or problems as they occur.- Carry out other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director.Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contractContract length: 20 weeksPart-time hours: 3-4 per weekSalary: $16.00-$18.00 per hourSchedule:
