Job Description

Norstar Windows and Doors is growing and needs an experienced Saw Machine Operator to support its DAY SHIFT operations.Why join Norstar We offer steady year-round work in a new state-of-the-art facility. You would be joining our dedicated and diverse production team. We offer group medical coverage and are an active supporter in promoting from within our organization.The Saw Machine Operator cuts extrusions for our windows manufacturing operations.Applicants must CURRENTLY live in Ontario.Responsibilities:

  • Cutting extrusions to meet production quotas.
  • Load stock and cut according to order specifications.
  • Inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements.
  • Report any scrap or defects to the supervisor.
  • Maintain work area in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Maintain inspection records and completed inspection reports.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of two years saw machine experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints diagrams, drawings, and specifications.
  • Knowledge and application of precision measuring.
  • Knowledge of cutting tools and saw machine operation.
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Must be able to communicate in English (both written and oral) as it relates to the job.
  • Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, and competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude. High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Commitment to quality and safety.
  • Respect diversity - treat others with respect.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
Working Conditions:
  • This position may be exposed to elements such as intermittent noise, dust, heat, and cold.
  • Use of Personal Protection Equipment (e.g. seat belt, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed safety shoes/boots, hearing protection, etc.).
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and complete repetitive tasks.
  • Regularly works near moving mechanical equipment.
