Job Description

KML Windows Inc., a division of Andersen Corporation, is currently seeking an afternoon shift CNC Operator. The incumbent of this position is responsible for ensuring that the CNC Machine properly cuts wood into the correct pre-programmed sizes and shapes. The CNC Operator will be responsible for maintaining set Quality Standards for Material and Machining.ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate the CNC Router in a safe and productive manner, including set-up, measuring, loading tools & cutters, and preparing CNC machine for manufacturing runs
  • Perform maintenance to ensure safe and proper operation of the machine
  • Load instruction programs into the computer/machine for operation of machine
  • Determine how the machine will operate from reading G-Codes
  • Understand & implement adjustments to programs in order to achieve required outcomes
  • Design, build & set-up various jigs & fixtures to hold pieces that are being cut
  • Load material on and off the machine tables
  • Work with the CNC Programmer to determine proper machining methods and provide input into how the machine may best be utilized.
  • Participate in defining and improving standard work
  • Assist with training co-workers

  • Perform other duties across the plant as needed as directed by supervision or management
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Solid knowledge of woodworking practices and machining techniques, including knowledge of general wood router concepts: speeds, feeds, material removal, HP, climb vs. conventional cutting plus substrate characteristics
  • Basic math skills (understanding x, y and z coordinates)
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Has an understanding of standard tooling concepts: DIA, RPM, up-cut, down-cut, compression
  • Basic working knowledge of computer functions and keyboarding
  • Possess strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to work independently
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) & able to take instruction/direction well
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency to complete work on schedule & able to work under pressure
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude with the ability to interact effectively with other departments
  • Must have the ability to work flexible shifts and/or additional hours in order to meet customer and timeline requirements
