We offer a diverse, supportive environment where you will grow personally and professionally as you learn from some of the most talented people in your field.At Cargill we have a Culture of Safety, our goal is to return everyone safely back to their loved ones every day.Compensation: the start pay rate is $20.00 CAD per hour, after completing the probationary period, the payment will increase up to $24.16 CAD.Cargill Animal Nutrition division of Cargill, with operations in 23 countries, 4 continents and 170 operating plants, is a leading manufacturer and distributor of feed and nutritional products for livestock and pets.As a Packaging Operator at our Animal Nutrition facility in Strathroy, ON you will be responsible for safe and efficient hands-on duties including setting up, adjusting and operating manufacturing machinery, exercising process control and operating related equipment, driving forklifts and maintaining the facility and grounds.Principal Accountabilities:

  • Packaging Operation and Risk management
  • Operate multi-function machinery and process control equipment through control panels, computer terminals and other miscellaneous control systems to receive, transfer, grind, batch/blend, pellet/extrude, bag and ship animal feed/petfood safely and efficiently
  • Maintain shift- & processlogs as well as several other lean management related documents
  • Observe gauges, monitors etc. to ensure compliance with critical to quality specifications
  • Set up and adjust processing and packaging equipment to efficiently and safely manufacture animal feed/petfood
  • Perform miscellaneous operator care related maintenance duties as well as aid troubleshooting processes guided by maintenance technicians
  • Ensure plant and yard are clean and safe for customers and employees
  • Understanding and adhering to all safety rules and regulations.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required:
  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada.
  • Cargill requires that employees be a minimum of 18 years old.
  • Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting 50 lbs kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting safely, with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc., with the use of personal protective equipment
  • Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above)
  • Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written)
  • High School diploma or Equivalent
  • Basic use of a computer
  • Ability to work overtime including weekends, holidays, or different shifts with advance notice
  • Must have ability to demonstrate basic understanding of the animal feed/petfood manufacturing process
  • Must possess technical aptitude to learn and understand process control systems
Preferred:
  • Prior experience in production related work
  • Forklift certified
  • Proven ability to manage compliance with Environment, Health & Safety and Operations standards and regulations
  • Knowledge of inventory control, quality management, operating efficiency, agricultural experience or specialized knowledge of grain handling and crop input products
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate, service, and troubleshoot machinery
