Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:The General Help (Sorter/Cashier) is to receive and sort donations, as well as ring in customer purchases. This position includes continuous standing, bending and lifting.. This is a busy position, the incumbent will be required to work efficiently and manage their time well.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receive gifts and clothing from various agencies and public.
  • Cashier
  • Sort clothing, furniture, Misc items and other various responsibilities.
  • Continuous standing, bending, and lifting.
  • Lifting up to 20 pounds (with assistance)
  • Other job related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:QUALIFICATIONS:
  • The applicant must be able to contribute as a team player, projecting a positive, professional, and helpful attitude.
  • They must have ability to work independently and have the capability to systematically organize.
  • The incumbent must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proven written and oral communication skills must be able to be demonstrated in daily interactions.
  • Must have a Grade 12 certificate or equivalent.
  • A valid driver’s license and a clear driving record are required.
  • The ability to model the values and standards of The Salvation Army.
  • Cash experience is an asset
  • Required to work every second Saturday
