Your Responsibilities will include:

• Meet with staff at the start of each day and review work list, identify priorities, and then delegate tasks to the crew.
• Lead and document the morning safety meeting and review equipment needs, vehicle assignments, special instructions, PPE requirements, mountain information updates, weather, concerns and successes, etc, setting daily completion goals.
• Proper utilization of all safety equipment required in the performance of daily activities.
• Ensure that equipment inventories are maintained and tools are available when needed.
• Maintain crew equipment in top working order (chainsaws, brush cutters, Quads, SideXsides and ensure that appropriate action is taken to repair your tools.
• Advance planning of future work to be done.
• Daily progress tracking of work to ensure timely completion of the task before starting another.
• Monitor work being done to ensure that all WorkSafe regulations and SOG’s are followed daily and ensure that the crew is aware of safety concerns in and around the area they are working.
• Be current with S100 Fire Suppression Training and be part of Sun Peaks Initial Fire Attack Crew.
• Jobs may include but are not limited to; run maintenance, vegetation clearing, brushing, maintaining run- off structures, signage, and improvements), cattle control fence line right of way clearing, and general resort beautification), erosion control, hiking trail construction and maintenance, and ski run sign maintenance.

Ideal Candidates:

• Highschool diploma, or equivalent
• A valid class 5 driver’s license and clean abstract
• Wild fire suppression experience with valid S-100 certificate and OFA-1 as minimum
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule (weekends and holidays) as required by summer operating hours, special events and fire danger rating
• Previous work experience working on summer trail crew
• A team player, self-motivated, with proven leadership skills and the ability to motivate others
• Working knowledge of local mountain area and the flora and fauna
• Willing and prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Must be in good physical shape, able to undertake constant hard physical work, and able to safely lift heavy objects
• Experienced operating small motorized vehicles (i.e., quad, etv)
