Job Description

Foot Care NurseJob Description:Reporting to the Owner or General Manager the Foot Care Nurse is responsible for managing all aspects of foot care, following current best practice guidelines in nursing foot care as per Health Canada guidelines and best practice guidelines in infection control for foot care and evidence based practice in nursing foot care treatment. Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred), RN diploma or RPN diploma;
  • Certificate in foot care from a recognized institution;
  • current registration with the College of Nurses of British Columbia
  • 1 year of experience
  • 2 Professional References
  • A current First Aid and CPR Certificate (Standard First Aid)
  • Evidence of a negative TB test and immunizations up to date
  • Criminal background check
Accountabilities
  • Reports to General Manager/Owner with accountability to Client Care Coordinator for communication of field issues
    • Serve as backup for In-Home Visits
    • Serve as back up for service to clients requiring wound care.
Responsibilities
  • Assessing clients’ physical and psychosocial needs;
  • Providing foot care to individualsprimarily seniors and others with diabetes, including health education and chronic disease management, on-site and off-site (home visits);
  • Maintaining a waiting list for foot care; tasks include initiating phone calls, taking client history, engaging with family members and providing both internal and external referrals as needed;
  • Identifying resources needed to support clinical care, health promotion and health education;
  • Participating in the development, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of programs that focus on foot health and foster self-help, mutual aid, and capacity building;
  • Conducting outreach to community residents who require foot care;
  • Reporting and recording accurately and appropriately, using electronic charting;
  • Assisting with maintenance of equipment, supplies and resources in the chiropody areas;
  • Maintaining logs of reprocessing of equipment for use in foot care services.
Authority
  • Following schedules as planned by Operations/Client Care Coordinator.
  • Budgets/Expenditures – Submitting timely requests for materials required to perform foot care services.
Work Environment:Typical office environment, automobile, community settings, referral source settings (may include standard office buildings, hospitals, residential settings).Position Physical Demands:Walking, sitting, and standing with lifting limited to files and records typically not expected to exceed 5 pounds in weight.Will be required to provide services to clients, so would need to be able to lift up to 25 pounds.Wages starting at $24.00 per client seenPowered by JazzHR
