Job Description

Job Title: Lawyer - Estates and WillsAbout the Role:Our client is seeking a Lawyer specializing in Estates and Wills to provide legal services in estate planning, trust administration, will disputes, and fiduciary obligations. In this role, you will work with clients to review and advise on estate plans, including trusts, wills, and powers of attorney, and guide them through legal options for resolving estate-related disputes.Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on legal matters concerning estates, trusts, probate, and related litigation.
  • Perform legal research and analysis on estate and trust matters.
  • Communicate with clients, courts, administrators, and other relevant parties.
  • Draft pleadings, memoranda, and litigation documents.
  • Represent clients in court, settlement negotiations, and alternative dispute resolution processes.
  • Stay up to date with changes in estate, trust, and probate laws to ensure clients receive accurate legal advice.
Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) or LLB, licensed to practice in British Columbia, and in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia.
  • Extensive experience in estates litigation, with in-depth knowledge of trusts, probate, and wills.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • A portable book of business.
  • Over 10 years of experience in estates law.
