We are dedicated to nurturing our employees’ growth and development, and providing a supportive environment with a strong emphasis on mentorship and professional development that ensures a rewarding career within our organization.The OpportunityThe Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Technologist reports to the Remote Sensing lead and serves as the team’s technical expert in UAV Survey and Data Processing. Responsibilities include mission planning and UAV flights, processing photogrammetry data in Agisoft Metashape, quality control and quality assurance, drafting, and 3D modelling from point cloud data. The UAV Technologist will also use their experience to aid in estimate preparation and job costing. Proficiency in specialized software and strong data analysis skills are required, along with the ability to effectively communicate with team members, clients, and other stakeholders as necessary.Dutiesamp; Responsibilities

  • UAV data processing and quality assurance;
  • Feature extraction from point cloud data and orthophotos;
  • Ensuring compliance with all UAV regulations;
  • Drafting and modelling from point cloud data;
  • Planning and executing UAV missions in the field;
  • UAV data Quality Assurance and Quality Control;
  • Maintaining technical proficiency with industry standards;
  • Liaising with Project Managers to ensure clients requirements are met;
  • Advising on equipment and software to facilitate branch growth;
  • Managing data according to data management policy and procedures;
  • Developing training materials and mentoring junior staff who are interested in UAV survey;
Qualifications and Skills
  • Transport Canada drone Pilot Certificate – Advanced Operations
  • Demonstrated experience planning and executing UAV Surveys
  • Experience with processing UAV data with Agisoft Metashape
  • Experience with Pix4D will be considered alongside the candidates desire to transition to Metashape;
  • Demonstrated experience in using DJI UAVs,
  • Demonstrated experience processing photogrammetry data;
  • Experience preparing client deliverables such as topographic plans, surface models, or inspection reports;
  • Experience using 3D modeling software (i.e., Microstation, TopoDot, Cloud Compare, or ESRI ArcGIS and/or QGIS an asset);
  • A bachelor’s degree in Geomatics Engineering is preferred
  • A diploma in Geomatics combined with relevant work experience may be considered for the right candidate;
  • A bachelor’s degree in an associated field such as Geography, remote sensing, GIS, or Engineering may be considered in addition to relevant work experience;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal, and able to work effectively with various officials, team members and clients
CompensationThe salary range for this position is $75,000 to $85,000 per year, commensurate with experience, skillsets, and qualifications.Benefitsamp; Rewards
