Job Description

2 Full Time Permanent Positions - Swan RiverEmployment Status: 1.0 EFT - 2 Full Time Permanent PositionsQualifications:

  • Must hold a medicine degree from a nationally approved faculty of medicine.
  • You must have a valid pass standing of the following Medical Council of Canada Examinations: NAC OSCE or MCCQE2
  • Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba or applied for the PRA MB-FP, been selected by the IMG selection committee, short listed for an in-person interview, passed the TDM examination, received confirmation of eligibility for provisional registration from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba and invited for sponsorship interview,
    • - Must show evidence of currency in practice - Applicants without general or family practice training and/or experience will not be considered.
  • Must be a member in good standings or eligible for registration with the Canadian Medical Protective Association.
  • Must be able to work in fast paced environment, work evenings and nights, cooperate with colleagues, manual dexterity, share in on call schedules with other physicians.
  • CCFP preferred
  • ACLS & PALS
  • Language: English
  • Criminal Record check, child and adult abuse checks, immunization records are required.
    • Compensation:
  • Compensation is derived from fee-for-service billing as per the current Manitoba physician’s manual negotiated in the Master Agreement between the Minister of Health and Doctors Manitoba.
  • Further remuneration is available to the physician by providing Emergency Department coverage. Remuneration for this would be in the form of on call stipends and fee-for-service billing as per the current Doctors Manitoba agreement for Basic A and Basic B Hospitals. Fees will be dependent on volume of services provided.
  • Competitive rate of overhead charged.
  • Benefits are not provided but may be purchased if the successful candidate so desired.
    • Primary Work Location: Swan Valley Health Centre - 1011 Main Street, Swan River MB R0L 1Z0Administration Office: Prairie Mountain Health Souris Regional Office: 192 1st Avenue West, P.O Box 579 Souris MB R0K 2C0The Swan River Valley Health Centre is a 52-bed acute care facility located in Swan River. There are 36 Acute Care beds and 16 Extended Treatment (Rehab): beds. Swan Valley Health Centre offers these services: Public Health, Mental Health, Addictions medicine, Home Care, Emergency Services, Diagnostics, Chemotherapy, Dialysis, Telehealth, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Respiratory Therapy and itinerant surgical services. There are three Long term care facilities. Swan Valley Lodge – 70 beds, Swan River Valley Personal Care Home– 45 beds and Benito Health Centre – 20 beds. EMS and STARS helicopter ambulance provides trauma transportation.The Swan Valley Health Facilities’ catchment area includes the communities of Swan River, Minitonas, Birch River, Bowsman, Camperville, Cowan, Mafeking and Benito. It also includes the RM’s of Swan River and Minitonas; Wuskwi Sipihk First Nation, Pine Creek First Nation as well as Sapotaweyak Cree Nation, with physicians providing services on site in this community.
