The Secretary is a team member who, in cooperation with the Office Manager, is responsible to the Principal for ensuring that the school office functions in an efficient and effective manner. This position requires the performance of secretarial/clerical tasks and related office functions to provide support for the principal, school staff and students.Required QualificationsMust possess excellent interpersonal skillsPossess a Grade 12 educationCertificate in secretarial training at an institution or equivalent as recognized by the Board is an assetExperience as Secretary/Office Manager within a school is an assetSuperior knowledge of business English, spelling, and punctuationKnowledge in basic accounting practicesKnowledge in the operation of equipment, such as photocopier, fax, telephone, and computerKnowledge of methods and procedures used in maintaining an officePrevious experience or knowledge working within parameters of the Local Authority Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act is an assetDutiesPerform receptionist duties by greeting visitors and parents, assisting with the intercom system, answering the telephone, ascertaining the nature of business, providing information or redirecting inquires as requiredHelp track and monitor student attendancePerform various computer, word processing and typing responsibilities such as forms, school programs, correspondence, exams, student handbooks, school communication, newsletters, schedules and a variety of reports as directedOperate computer-based programs for accounting, student and personnel information as requiredEnter data and generate monthly and other reports in the student information, accounting and administrative systems as required by the Principal and Division Office personnelPromote the vision, mission, principles and goals of the Chinook School DivisionUpdate and monitor the school’s social media accountsHold in confidence, safeguard and protect all confidential information against disclosureBenefitsDefined Benefit Pension PlanEmployee benefit packagePositive work environmentPay range: $19.25 to $25.73 per hourApplications must be submitted prior to 3:00 p.m. on November 8, 2024.For more information about this position, please contact Mark Reiter, Principal, at 306-778-9240.
