Seating is at the center of the consumer vehicle experience and our seating solutions are developed from consumer research, prioritizing comfort, convenience and connectivity.About the RoleYour ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement specific Health and Safety systems and policies based on the principles of the Magna #39;s Employee #39;s Charter, as well as government regulations.Provides guidance to employee(s) in relation to any safety concern(s) they may have and ensure that all Company safety procedures are strictly adhered to.Provide all departments with technical assistance on chemicals, waste, environmental regulations, and the storage, transportation and handing of hazardous materials.Ensures that health and safety and Environmental policies and procedures are carried out, including interpretation of legislation.Establish and promote the maintenance of safe and healthy working conditions, and to recommend ways to reduce or eliminate industrial accidents and health hazards.Ensure the Health and Wellness complies with QMS, EMS and all Health and Safety guidelines. (OSHA, OHSAS, ISO 14001)Responsible for environmental concerns, including air emissions, noise, chemicals, storm and sanitary water discharges.Research and implement various recycling programs.Coordinate and monitor the Environmental Management System, including Environmental Management Programs, and review status with management team.Assist with emergency response procedures, including spill planning, job training, and waste manifest reporting.Reviews all accident/incident investigation reports and provides leadership in developing corrective action.Liaison with external and internal sources pertaining to areas of responsibility. (i.e.) medical authorities, safety consultants, government inspectors, and Magna #39;s Corporate Safety, Environmental Department.Plans and coordinates all activities related to company health and safety, including safety records, accident investigation, emergency procedures, WHMIS, JHSC meetings, and walk thru.Will sit on various committees (i.e.) Joint Health and Safety Committee and represent the company as Co-Chairperson of the Joint Health and Safety Committee and Ergonomics Committee.Acts as internal spokesperson and advisor on all health and safety and Environmental matters.Who we are looking forUniversity degree or Community College diploma in an Environmental and/or Occupational Health and Safety discipline, or equivalent in training. Must be a certified member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee. Five or more years experience as Safety Specialist in an Industrial environment. A thorough knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Industrial Regulations, Fire Code, and all other pertinent employment related legislation. Must have RAB-certified EMS Lead Auditor training, as well as a thorough knowledge and understanding of environmental legislation, and QMS and EMS requirements. Some general knowledge of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board. Personal computer experience using Microsoft Word, and Excel is required. The ability to analyze and solve issues and meet deadlines. The ability to interpret and apply Company policies to related events is mandatory. Must be a high energy results oriented individual. Must have outstanding interpersonal, communication, organizational and leadership skills.
