Job Description

MatrixHR is currently seeking out an Electrical Engineer for one of our exciting clients located in Kitimat, BC. Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent and working 3 week on and 1 week off Rotational shift for the duration of 2024.Fly-in-fly-out arrangements and accommodations may be covered if required.Camp providedPay Rate: $45.50 - $52.50/ hrThe successful candidate will be reporting to the Asset Management Superintendent and will be responsible for delivering business value through technical expertise and innovations applied to the assets and systems.Job Duties:

  • Review and design operational tasks for job hazard analysis, perform risk assessments, and act as a technical resource for safe work procedures.
  • Perform root cause analysis and defect eliminations to improve the reliability of the area’s equipment.
  • Manage reliability improvement projects onsite.
  • Apply asset management best practices and drive improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain and improve preventive and predictive maintenance program(s).
  • Respond and provide technical assistance to the maintenance team regarding electrical equipment problems.
  • Support trades in troubleshooting issues in a heavy industrial atmosphere.
  • Represent the area for projects performed by the engineering group.
  • Provide technical support for equipment including low-voltage power distribution, PLCs, and VFDs.
  • Implement PLC hardware upgrades to remove older generation equipment from use.
To be considered for this role, the successful applicant will have:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Eligibility to register with EGBC
  • A strong safety mindset and ability to follow safe work procedures.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance and asset management of processing plant, pulp and paper, or similar industry.
  • Leadership and good communication skills.
