Competition: (2024-269-CC)Living Standards CoordinatorEmployment Type:Permanent Full-Time, Bargaining Unit (1 Vacancy)Work Hours:35 hours/weekWork Setting:Salary:Onsite at 540 Cedarvale AvenueExternal Rate: F7 - $49,179.05Internal Rate: F8 - $50,182.70Application Deadline:July 18th, 2024, by 11:59 pmProgram Overview – Cedarvale Housing, Community CareThe Cedarvale Supportive Housing Program provides housing for seniors who have been street-involved, and who may be experiencing mental health and/or addictions issues. The program provides onsite psychosocial, primary care supports and services including intensive case management; harm reduction and addiction support; therapeutic and supportive counselling; 24-hour staffing; assistance with activities of daily living; nursing services; life skills development; social and recreational activities; volunteer opportunities; and follow up support. What You Will Do

  • Develop strategies to assist residents in maintaining healthy and safe living space; as well as train others and execute these strategies
  • Conduct tenant needs assessments and create care plans for individuals who have current or past hoarding tendencies and /or limitations for unit maintenance. Engage tenant in identifying any issues/problem areas inside the unit for creating a healthy living environment.
  • Coach and educate tenants on their responsibilities as per the signed tenancy agreement with WoodGreen. Work with tenants to ensure a clear understanding of housing concerns related to fire safety with hoarding and participation in pest control treatments.
  • Help tenants to set and achieve realistic goals with respect to bringing their units to an acceptable safety standard. Help tenants to achieve set goals through supportive means such as encouragement, coaching, psycho-socio education, and de-escalation.
  • Collaborate with support teams, Supervisor/Manager, and housing staff to plan and facilitate appropriate pest control treatments.
  • Attend Hoarding Network and other community-related meetings to network and keep up to date on best practices for hoarding supports and follow up for behavioral issues that impede progress.
  • Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution with residents when required.
  • Monitor and review tenant needs and community issues and communicate the information to the Supervisor of Housing Supports and/or Manager.
General Responsibilities
  • Carry out administrative procedures and maintain appropriate records with respect to pest-control treatments and interventions.
  • Uphold confidentiality policies regarding tenant information.
  • Responsible for upgrading training and education as directed.
  • Ensure the anti-racism objectives and principles of the organization are achieved within the program.
  • Represent the unit on internal staff committees as directed.
  • Participate in regular supervisory sessions with the Supervisor and regular staff/unit meetings.
  • Provide input to the development of the program and participate in program evaluations.
  • Might be exposed to second-hand, behavioralamp; cognitive outbursts, death, dying, drug use, pest-related concerns etc.
  • Able to lift 40 lbs
  • Keep track of statistics, document interventions and outcomes
  • Carry out relevant tasks as directed by Supervisor, Manager, and Director
What You Bring to the Team
  • Certificate or diploma in social service work and or pest control
  • 2+ years of experience in social services working with individuals who have a history of homelessness, low income, addictions and mental health challenges.
  • Knowledge of bed bug and other pest concerns, pest control procedures and solutions.
  • Knowledge of best practices for hoarding support and follow-up.

  • Experience with needs assessments and coordinating services and implementation.
  • Excellent oral, and written communication and documentation skills.
  • Strong ability to multi-task, organization skills and prioritizing efficiently.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of client-centred, anti-racist, and anti-oppressive frameworks.
  • Experience in crisis response and intervention, de-escalation, advocacy and negotiation skills.
  • Comfortable working in an environment in which clients may be angry and exhibit anti-social behaviours.
  • Applied computer skills (MS word, Microsoft Office 365 /Teams, Excel).
  • Experience with Pirouette database is an asset.
  • A second language is an asset.
