New employees are hired as Labourers (LAB: $39,944 - $43,847) and promoted to the Operator (OR1-4: $43,221 to $52,925) series once training, orientation, and proficiency-testing milestones are met.   • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must have a Class 5F driver #39;s licence without restrictions (excluding corrective lenses) and ability to upgrade to a Class 3 with air brake endorsement within 6 months.
  • Must be physically capable of performing all of the required job duties, lifting/carrying up to 55 pounds, walking on rough terrain, sitting and standing for prolonged periods, climbing stairs and ladders, crouching, kneeling, bending, twisting, operating vehicles and wearing personal protective equipment).
  • Must be able to respond to work within 30 minutes of call.
  • Must be able to work overtime as required.
Qualifications:Essential:
  • Experience performing manual labour.
  • Experience operating hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Effective verbal communication skills.
Desired:
  • Experience operating light and/or heavy duty equipment.
  • Experience servicing and/or making minor repairs to vehicles and equipment.
Duties:Maintenance Workers (MW #39;s) operate highway maintenance equipment, small hand and power tools, and perform physical maintenance work associated with highway maintenance activities. In the winter months, the MW will operate heavy equipment to keep highways clear of snow and ice.
