Job Description

Location: Area 1 Office (Thompson)Start Date: As soon as possibleFTE: 1.00 FTETerm of Employment: PermanentApplication Deadline: Open Until FilledThe Division provides a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, transportation and moving expense reimbursement, subsidized housing or housing allowance and isolation allowance in qualifying communities, annual travel reimbursement, reimbursement for approved courses and more! In addition, the Division is offering a $5,000 incentive payment to all successful eligible applicants.Reporting to the Area Superintendent, the School Psychologist works collaboratively with school personnel, parents and other clinical disciplines to provide a comprehensive range of psychological services within the school community, including assessment, diagnosis, intervention, consultation and recommendations.QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in School Psychology with appropriate supervised clinical experience
  • Valid Manitoba School Psychologist Certificate (or eligibility for)
  • Successful completion of formal training in psycho-educational assessments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, effective organizational skills and the ability to meet multiple deadlines
  • Experience working with students who have a broad range of exceptional needs.
  • Excellent computer/technology skills
  • Strong clinical skills and a broad knowledge base in child and adolescent development, cognitive processes, mental health, school and community systems, learning, and behaviour disorders
  • Training in Threat Assessment/Trauma Informed Care would be an asset
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and using culturally affirming approaches preferred
  • Valid Manitoba Driver’s license and ability to travel
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conducts and interprets psychoeducational assessments of students related to learning, social, emotional and or behavioural difficulties
  • Works collaboratively with school staff and parents to identify and develop support for student needs
  • Participates in Student Support team meetings to provide recommendations related to learning strategies, interventions and/or specialized programming
  • Prepares and submits written reports in accordance with division timelines
  • Liaises with outside agencies to ensure a coordinated and comprehensive approach to student planning and intervention
  • Forwards referrals to outside agencies in consultation with school personnel and/or the Student Services team
  • Works with the Student Services Team to facilitate professional learning for school staff and parents
  • Provides support with Threat Assessment, Crisis Response, and/or Tragic Events, as needed
  • Complies with the Canadian Psychological Association Code of Ethics and guidelines regarding providing Psychological Services via Electronic Media
  • Maintains confidentiality in accordance with professional guidelines.
  • Adheres to Frontier School Division policies.
