Those who do not meet the educational and/or experience qualifications listed are encouraged to apply and include a summary of lived experience in their resume.Team Lead, Wuskwatim Healing Home (FT/Permanent)Reporting to the Program Supervisor, the Team Lead is responsible for assisting the Program Supervisor in the daily operation and development of the Wuskwatim Healing Home Program. Duties include providing daily care and support to youth residing within the home, ensuring their emotional, mental and spiritual needs are met. The Team Lead also provides supervision and support to the home’s Youth Care Practitioners and maintains a safe, stable and nurturing environment.Duties and ResponsibilitiesDuties and responsibilities of the Team Lead, include but are not limited to:

  • Provides 24-hour supervision of youth, modeling healthy/professional conduct and support, ensuring the needs of the youth are the primary focus;
  • Encourage individual independence, choice and self-expression while maintaining awareness of the needs of the youth in a structured therapeutic residence;
  • Fulfills all of the duties and responsibilities of the Youth Care Practitioner role, including developing, managing, facilitating, and directing day to day program activities, implementing household routines, cleaning, cooking and yard work, per the Program Supervisor’s instructions.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills by working alongside YCP’s, providing guidance, training and mentorship. Communicates and clarifies YCP role, responsibilities and expectations. Documents/intervenes when concerns arise in the workplace, per policies.
  • Acts as primary point of contact for all staff, youth and agency issues in Supervisor’s absence.
  • Uses a reflective supervision approach to intervene and coach staff when conduct and/or performance concerns arise and document all events/ activities.
  • Provide transportation, supervision/support for youth to participate in community activities/attend appointments, as instructed.
  • Administrative duties as assigned by Program Supervisor and coverage for the Program Supervisor (vacation/other time off) and on-call coverage as required;
Experience
  • Working with children/youth, in a social-serving organization, or with vulnerable people (desired)
  • Previous experience/training in a similar role (ex.: team lead, shift lead or as a supervisor) with demonstrated leadership, coaching and mentoring abilities (preferred)
  • Managing budgets, per diems, petty cash or experiencing with other financial management and or reporting is considered an asset.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of trauma and resilience-informed care with desire and skills to work alongside marginalized individuals with compassion, care and positivity.
  • Ability to communicate clearly (verbally and in writing) with youth, and staff, in a respectful, inquisitive manner.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous beliefs, customs, languages and traditions considered an asset.
  • Comfortable working with individuals of all genders and sexual orientations and using/respecting the individual’s chosen pronoun(s).
  • Ability to promote healthy living practices ex: household routines, food intake and nutrition education, the importance of rest, community, cultural connection and exercise;
  • Comfortable working with individuals experiencing challenges with mental health and substance use, knowledge/experience applying harm reduction strategies;
Education
  • Completion of Grade 12 education or equivalent. Any form of post-secondary education related to human services, child and youth care, or mental health is considered an asset (desired, but not required);
Other RequirementsDriver’s Licence & Abstract: Valid Class 5F Driver’s License and current Driver’s Abstract (subject to review/approval). Individuals without a clear driving record are encouraged to apply and will be carefully considered in accordance with applicable licensing requirements.First Aid/CPR C Certification: Valid certification or willingness to obtain; training will be arranged if you do not hold current certification.Background Checks: The successful candidate will be required to obtain/submit the following background checks with satisfactory results, within three (3) months of hire as a condition of employment. The Link will assist the successful candidate with navigating the background check process.
  • RCMP Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search (CRCVSS) The Link will reimburse the successful candidate for the $10 RCMP fee upon submission of satisfactory results & receipt.
  • Canadian Corps of Commissionaires Criminal Record Check (CPIC)* due to RCMP CRCVSS processing delays The Link requires the processed CPIC check before the successful candidate begins work.
  • Satisfactory Manitoba Child Abuse Registry (CAR) and Adult Abuse Registry Check (AAR) with acceptable Prior Contact Check (PCC) processed (dated) within 3 months of hire.
Position SummarySalary: Starting at $19.00/hour (negotiable based on experience/qualifications) with northern allowance (additional 5% of salary)Job Type: Full-Time / PermanentLocation: Wuskwatim, Thompson, ManitobaSchedule/Hours: 40 hours/week; varied shift schedule.
