Job DescriptionWHAT #39;S THE JOBThe Remote Fire Camp Operations Driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable and on-schedule transportation for our staff supporting fire camp operations, while providing support in other areas as needed within the fire basecamp operations. You must be comfortable working in a remote bush camp setting.Bush camps are often hours away from any town, with limited to no cell reception and Wi-Fi.Must be comfortable sleeping in a tent and living in the outdoors as accommodations can range from a lodge to a tent depending on the site.Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide safe and timely transportation of staff, supplies, or equipment between designated pick up areas to and from, and within the fire basecamp operations, including to and from the accommodation units.
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections, maintain digital vehicle logs, and report deficiencies immediately.
  • Ensure vehicle is clean, fueled, and stocked with required safety/emergency equipment
  • Operate vehicle in compliance with company policies and Highway Traffic Act, obliging to bush road protocols, speed limits, signage, and traffic protocols
  • Maintain clear communication with dispatch or supervisors while on duty, including Road Radio Protocol on bush roads
  • Use fuel cards responsibly and track mileage and work hours accurately
  • Support general labour tasks around the fire camp when not driving, as needed
