As an Employment Consultant at the MSC you will:
  • Conduct employment assessments to understand and document client needs; provide individual career coaching and direct support to clients in resume and cover letter writing, interview preparation, and job search strategies; assist clients with establishing strong job seeking skills, positive attitudes, and interview readiness; establish and implement Plans of Action
  • Manage documentation and client records in the Employment Ontario Case Management System; maintain an up-to-date caseload for progress and contact; conduct and document regular follow-up activities with clients
  • Assist with apprenticeships pursuits and assessments for additional training programs
  • Liaise and collaborate with community partners and agencies to access resources to assist with successful outcomes; refer clients for other support where appropriate
  • Collaborate with the Employment Services team as required to problem solve job placements, engage mentors for clients and monitor to ensure successful outcome
  • Assist with employment initiatives such as job fairs, outreach initiatives, presentations, and other employment related events
  • Apply and continually enhance knowledge of the local Labour Market, trends, tools, resources, programs, and opportunities
What you bring:
  • Post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in Human Resources, Career Practitioner/Employment Counseling, or Social Services
  • Experience working with employment or social services caseloads
  • Career Development Practitioner Certificate (CDP), Life Skills coaching or equivalent is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer satisfaction skills
  • Diplomatic and tactful conflict resolution, and problem-solving abilities
  • Adherence to confidentiality and professional code of conduct
  • Passion for continuous professional development
