MUSHKEGOWUK COUNCILMushkegowuk Council is dedicated to providing quality equitable and accessible support and advisory services to respond to and meet the social, economic, cultural, educational, spiritual, and political needs of first nations, thereby improving the quality of life of our peopleEMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITYPOSITION: OESS Planning Coordinator - EducationCOMPETITION #: 2022-008LOCATION: Timmins, ONTERM: Full TimeCLOSING DATE: Open until FilledPOSITION SUMMARYUnder the direction of the Director of Education, the OESS Planning Coordinator will collaborate with the OESS Student Success Planning Advisor to develop, oversee, and ensure completion of outlined First Nation Student Success Planning Component workplans based on First Nations Elementary/Secondary Education Advancement (FNESEA) (formerly FNSSP) proposal activities and School Improvement Plans for schools under the umbrella of the FNESEA. The OESS Planning Coordinator is responsible for the successful completion of outlined activities in the SSP workplan for literacy, numeracy, and student retention. The OESS Planning Coordinator will provide support to MC School Principals and their staff in improving achievement levels in literacy, numeracy, and student retention. The OESS Planning Coordinator will also provide guidance and supervision to the Literacy and Numeracy Coaches. As part of the OESS team, the OESS Planning Coordinator will participate in discussions and meetings with the Principals Committee.REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Education degree, with a minimum of 4 years teaching experience; Experience as a vice-principal or principal an asset
  • Must have Ontario College of Teachers certificate in good standing
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current school success planning practices in elementary or secondary schools
  • Expertise in literacy, numeracy, and student retention programs at elementary or secondary schools
  • Familiarity with the Mushkegowuk communities of Moose Factory, Fort Albany, Kashechewan, and Attawapiskat
  • Ability to travel to and work in Mushkegowuk communities and schools
  • Strong leadership, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (oral and written), and computer skills
  • Fluency in Cree is an asset
  • Valid Class “G” Driver’s License is an asset
  • CPIC with vulnerable sector required
