Subsidiary: Miller Paving LimitedLocation: Timmins ONSummary:Ontario Highway Maintenance has immediate openings for Winter Patrollers. The winter maintenance season runs yearly from October until April, weather dependent. We offer competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package. At our core, we are our people. Following the winter season, we provide all employees equal opportunity to job vacancies.The Patroller will work with the day to day field maintenance operations on all highway infrastructures within the Maintenance Contract. The incumbent will also patrol for deficiencies throughout the highways that fall under our maintenance contract.As a Winter Patroller, You Will:Perform designated maintenance duties on all highway infrastructures as outlined in the contract performance measures, while adhering to company policies and proceduresAssist in investigations and respond to inquiries from the general public, external agencies, and liaise with Area Foreperson to resolve problemsAssist with the identification of potential work order opportunities, and deficiencies within the maintenance contract, reporting them to the Area ForepersonMaintain and conduct quality and environmental control measuresFacilitate a safe and healthy work environmentMaintain/clean equipment and conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs as requiredWhen required participate in the winter works operations by filling in for Emergency Response during storm eventsPatrol the highways for any maintenance needs during the winter season and instruct the operators accordinglyMaintain accurate documentation including but not limited to, driver log books for any CVOR vehicles on a daily basis, hours of service, safety reports, etcFollow the weekly on call rotation for emergency situations and callsOther duties and responsibilities as assignedWhat Youll Bring:Valid DZ License with a clean Driver’s AbstractExperience in highway maintenance and emergency response is considered an assetPrevious experience in winter works operations is considered an assetAvailable to respond to call-ins within thirty minutesAbility to work assigned shifts, and extended hours (evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays) as winter events requireMechanical knowledge, ability to perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to equipment as requiredAbility to perform manual labour and lift up to 50lbsUnderstanding of MTO standards and contract performance requirementsKnowledge of OTM Book 7 traffic control is considered an assetEffective organizational and interpersonal skillsTeam player with strong work ethicEffective communication (written and verbal)Willingness to work and drive in extreme weather conditionsWillingness to learn and appreciate company values - Safety, Quality, and Integrity so we can continue “Building Greatnessâ€Miller is proud to provide this unique career opportunity, we offer continuous learning, opportunity for growth, and a competitive compensation package.
