Job Description

  • Receive goods/shipments consigned to GTAA and inspect all shipments for damage, accuracy of documentation, received into system, and arrangements made for pickup or delivery
  • Receive stocked items from suppliers and warehouses, ensuring accuracy of documentation, post transactions in system, labels, and bin items in appropriate packaging
  • Note delivery discrepancies and perform first response activities as required by investigating and correcting discrepancies and elevate problems appropriately to management
  • Issues a wide variety of stocked items directly to first line user groups, verifies issue documentation, posts issues and notes discrepancies of on-hand quantities, etc
  • Process returns from client departments, prepares shipments for returns or repairs to supplier or other destinations, including preparation of shipping documents, hazardous goods and customs declarations, packaging and labeling
  • Operates bench stock areas of low cost, fast paced and/or attractive items which include the determination of user requirements, catalogues and controlling issues
  • Confirms approved dues-in orders with suppliers and clients
  • Maintains inventory levels by preforming routine checks by participating in cycle counts and noting any discrepancies, investigate and reconcile
  • Assists the operational groups with the identification, handling, shipping, storing and controlling of spare parts including workplace hazardous materials
  • Kitting and staging of parts and materials for planned work orders allowing maintenance of GTAA assets efficiency
  • Consistently providing system improvements to ensure required materials are available for repairs and minimize downtimes
  • Collaborate with purchasing, warehouse, and system partners to optimize inventory balance within the onsite warehouse/store locations and off-site vendor inventory requirements to optimize risk and cost
  • Continually evaluate changes to usage patterns to notify the partners
  • Supports the maintenance of the fuel vehicle inventory system by recording usage data, monitoring fuel tank levels and reporting refuelling issues
  • Assists in the operation of asset and hazardous waste disposal programs by displaying items in retention to the appropriate parties for re-use or disposal, and warehousing materials in remote storage areas
  • Preparation of purchase requisitions for repairable inventory items and for emergency purchases, including sourcing of such expenses as well as bench stock requirements. Use of Blanket Purchase Agreements and Credit Card Purchases
  • Pick up special orders from Vendor locations and/or from main warehouse and deliver to requested site (satellite warehouse/or on job site)
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned
This is a unionized position, with an hourly wage of $36.23 based on a 40 hour work week. Able to work on a rotational shift basis (days, afternoons, midnights). The successful candidate must be available to commence the duties of the position once a selection decision has been made. A test will be administered as a part of the competitive process.Qualifications:
  • Must possess a minimum of a High School Diploma, a Post-secondary degree/diploma is an asset
  • Minimum of five (5) years #39; experience in Inventory Control (warehousing/stores operations)
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in purchasing/sourcing
  • Must have a valid Ontario Driver #39;s License as well as a valid Forklift Operator License/Certification
  • Must have or be able to obtain a D/A AVOP license within 30 days of appointment
  • Able to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of spare parts is required for plumbing and heating materials, runway lighting, fleet, building electrical, baggage, loading bridges, structural, life safety materials, ground maintenance, PPE items, uniforms and other supplies are received and distributed to various parts of the Airport.
  • Applied knowledge of material management principles, practice, and procedures of a variety of spare parts warehoused to monitor, report, and make recommendations related to commodity classification, stock levels, inventory additions, improvements, and deletions
  • Knowledge of technical catalogues, inventory holdings, computers systems, and the preparation of receiving reports for goods and services.
  • Knowledge of the directive and objectives relating to the Aeronautics Act, Airport Property Traffic Act, Air Traffic Regulations, Transportation of Dangerous Goods and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), to obtain required certification to handle and ship dangerous goods, operate vehicles and equipment safely and ensure WHMIS regulations are followed by trades drawing supplies from bulk storage
  • Knowledge of an automated purchasing and inventory control system
  • Knowledge of the methods, techniques and practices involved in ordering, receiving, storing, shipping and issuing spare parts and material Operation of a standard forklift, reach truck, light trucks with trailer and various other materials handling equipment
  • Ability to maintain several databases, to print and distribute catalogues as well as to maintain suppliers #39; listings
  • Strong verbal and written skills to negotiate, present recommendations to leaders to seek approval to add or delete stocked items from inventory, to clarify/discuss discrepancies and respond to trades for odd or unusual equipment
  • Seek Specialists and Managers approval for purchases of materials carried as inventory or bench stocks
  • Ability to prepare memorandums requesting required services to repair, maintain or safeguard warehoused materials and section equipment
  • Must be able to perform work that involves heavy lifting, moving goods, climbing ladders, and bending
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access
  • Excellent computer and data entry skill
  • Strong mathematical skills for inventory reconciliation and cycle counting
  • Must be detail oriented, dependable, adaptable, have initiative, and show a mature approach and resourcefulness in dealing with conflict and pressure situations
The GTAA is a federally regulated private sector corporation. The Government of Canada has suspended mandatory vaccination requirement for federally regulated transportation sector workers. The GTAA continues to monitor government and health developments relating to COVID -19 and may re-introduce the Vaccination and proof of Vaccination requirements in the Policy at any time.
