Job Description

Start Rate (Non-negotiable): $29.19 per hourWork Location: 125 Judson Street, EtobicokeMetrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto #39;s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.At Metrolinx, equity, diversity and inclusion are essential to living our values of serving with passion, thinking forward and playing as a team.Our Willowbrook Rail Facilityamp; Outposts (West) Office is seeking a Plant Mechanics to ensure Metrolinx #39;s facilities, plant equipment, and systems are operated and maintained in a safe and effective manner.What will I be doing

  • Carrying out inspection, installation, operation, preventative maintenance, and remedial repairs of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and steam controls systems, equipment, tools, plumbing, and HVAC systems, plus minor structural repairs.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need
  • Knowledge of industrial maintenance normally attained through completion of courses related to certification as an Industrial Mechanic Millwright. Completion of community college level course on welding.
  • Minimum of two (2) years #39; experience involving the operation and specialized maintenance of large facilities and of the associated equipment supporting heavy rail and bus repair, including experience in gas cutting, soldering, brazing, gas and arc welding, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Must have a working knowledge of pertinent environmental regulations, codes and health and safety regulations.
  • Must possess good oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have a valid Ontario Classquot;G quot; Driver #39;s licence and must meet corporate standard for a good driving record.
  • Ability to operate forklift personnel lifts (scissor or telescopic) and/or other similar equipment. Must be able to obtain GO Transit Equipment Operator #39;s Permit.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain First Aid Certification, in addition to successfully completing environmental, safety, and any other training required by corporate policy.
