Job Description

Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto #39;s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.At Metrolinx, equity, diversity and inclusion are essential to living our values of serving with passion, thinking forward and playing as a team.Our GO Expansionamp; Transformation - Service Design Office is looking for Rail Performance Management Analysts to provide specialized analysis and coordination in support of GO Transit #39;s rail system, through operational planning and forecasting activities.What will I be doing

  • Monitor and report service effectiveness through data analysis for the purpose of identifying issues and recommending improvements.
  • Operate and maintain currency of a sophisticated rail scheduling software system, as well as develop, implement, and manage the tracking and reporting of third-party train movement on GO Transit owned corridors.
  • Plans and makes recommendations for special services and events, including those requested by applicable stakeholders (VIA Rail, Durham Heritage, CN/CP Railways.
  • Develops and recommends operational parameters for new or modified services, facilities design, equipment allocation, policies, programs, and standards.
  • Collaborates on assessing impacts on ridership, schedules, equipment, and other corporate resource requirements.
  • Review and update relevant manuals.
  • Write various types of reports for senior level management.
  • Provide railway operations resources and interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need
  • Minimum of (3) three years of post-secondary education preferably in management, transportation, rail traffic control and logistical planning or another appropriate logistical function.
  • Minimum of (5) five years progressively related experience in commuter rail operations or another appropriate logistical function or a combination of education and experience considered equivalent will be considered
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Railway Operating Rules would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of front-line transit operations, safety programs, transportation planning, and the ability to work independently or as a team member, with good organizational skills.
  • Good oral/written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in data management and quantitative analysis Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Must successfully complete environmental, safety and any other training required by corporate policy, with the ability to obtain job related certifications as required.
  • Assets: Rail scheduling and simulation, experience with program language (Python, R, JavaScript, VBA etc,) and data set configuration with statistical models.
  • Asset: Rail simulation experience with software (OpenTrack)
