With that in mind, we are on the hunt for exceptional talent to join us on this new journey and help hoist the sails!The Nitty Gritty:We are seeking an experienced Senior Game Backend Developer to play a pivotal role in our team, leading the development and enhancement of server-side logic and infrastructure for our titles, YoWorld and FishWorld. The successful candidate will be expected to bring a wealth of knowledge in backend programming languages, including Java and PHP, coupled with proven expertise in database and server architecture. With a focus on scalability and performance, you will drive innovation, mentor junior developers, and ensure our gaming experiences continue to captivate and engage players at the highest levels.This role is remote in Canada. Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect and implement scalable game backend services for high traffic and real-time player interactions.
  • Drive innovation and implementation of best practices in software development.
  • Mentor junior developers and lead by example.
  • Design new and improve existing tools to support automation, live operations and marketing.
  • Monitoring game performance, balancing security with an optimal user experience.
RequirementsThe Must Haves:
  • 6+ years expertise in Java and/or object-oriented PHP.
  • Proven experience developing services within containerized, distributed, and highly-scalable architecture.
  • At least 4 years working in a Game Development role:
  • At least one-shipped title, having owned and shipped completed features.
  • Live ops experience in a game environment.
  • BI/Analytics experience in a game environment.
Up to date knowledge of modern web security practices. Proficiency in writing optimized SQL queries. Highly skilled in automated functional and load testing methodologies to ensure the performance and stability of backend services. A passion for games!The Nice to Haves:
  • Proficient in utilizing cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or equivalents, ensuring scalable and robust and highly available backend infrastructure.
  • Skilled in Typescript/Javascript, including experience with web development frameworks such as React, alongside familiarity with various development tools.
  • Versed in implementing security measures and anti-cheat systems to safeguard game services against hacking, cheating, and other forms of malicious activities.
  • Knowledgeable in using game development engines, including Unity and Unreal, to create immersive gaming experiences.
