Job Description

Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. Join us as we build a knowledgeable and collaborative team that courageously changes how transit projects will be delivered.The Program Management Office is looking for a Senior Manager, Program Scheduling to develop and implement corporate strategy, standards and systems/procedures for planning and scheduling of high-value capital infrastructure projects.Reporting directly to the Director, CPG Planning/Scheduling and Estimating, the Senior Manager will oversee and deliver the consistent approach to program-wide schedule development and analysis for the Capital Project Group (CPG) including reporting, forecasting, mitigation, and development of recovery schedules. This role will coordinate with other program/project controls and project management of the projects and program and ensure agreed schedule management policies and procedures are consistently adhered.What will I be doing

  • Defines CPG strategy for project planning and scheduling; ensures industry best practices are identified and applied
  • Develops and maintains planning and scheduling procedures; defines and implements capital program standards and systems for planning and scheduling, modifies to support project-specific requirements and ensures consistency in the use of work breakdown structure (WBS)
  • Leads a large team of schedulers and interfaces with various project team members and stakeholders to manage project schedules at the CPG program level.
  • Generates what-if schedule analysis for different scenarios and/or to assess impacts of events
  • Identifies challenges to the project schedule, recommends mitigation strategies and oversees the preparation of recovery schedules; oversees the preparation of risk analysis related to project schedule to forecast contingencies.
  • Develops, oversees and implements the contractual requirements for scheduling of all capital-related contractors including design, engineering and construction; oversees the review of schedule related submissions
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need
  • Completion of a degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline - or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
  • Demonstrated progressive experience in high-profile, large-scale construction related scheduling and planning, including leading a team, at the program level within Program Management Office setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project planning and scheduling along with an understanding of the principles and concepts of critical path analysis, crashing the schedule, what-if scenario development, development of recovery schedules
  • Knowledge of project management principles and practices to lead and direct cross functional teams and consultants engaged in simultaneous projects (i.e. development, project progress, related staff and project resources)
  • Experience in the fields of Transit, Oil and Gas, Pharmaceutical, or Infrastructure project management are required
  • Expert knowledge in Primavera 6 (P6), and experience in managing Primavera 6 with interface with IT and individual schedulers.
  • Active membership in the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE), Project Management Institute (PMI), or similar associations is an asset
