The primary focus of the role is to assist project managers and technical specialists with contaminated sites related projects. About the roleDesigning and conducting field studies related to contaminated sites. Includes activities such as coordinating and managing groundwater monitoring, soil sampling, test pitting, borehole drilling, groundwater monitoring well installation, data tabulation, environmental data interpretation, and coordination of field subcontractors, reporting and documentation.Preparing reports, drawings and identifying recommendations based on sampling and field inspection data.Responsible for adhering to health and safety plans and quality processes on all work, project and reports.Assisting with the preparation of work plans, budgets and schedules while ensuring deliverables are met in a timely manner. Mentoring junior staff on field program requirementsAbout you You will be a senior scientist, engineer or geoscientist with experience in one or more fields of environmental management, contaminated sites investigation, remediation and reclamation, or environmental liability assessment.Post-secondary education in earth sciences, engineering (environmental, chemical, civil, geological, geo-technical), or equivalent. Minimum 4-8 years’ experience, preferably within the environmental industry (previous consulting experience preferred). Professional designation is preferred (P.Eng, P.Geo, EP). Experience directing field crews, and the ability to work effectively with environmental subcontractors. Experience with Ontario provincial requirements, specifically O. Reg 153/11 and O. Reg 406/19, is considered an asset. Experience with other provincial regulations (e.g. BC/AB) and federal regulatory regimes is preferred. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Excellent organizational abilities. Proficient with computers and various programs (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Winlog). Willingness to work outside in adverse weather conditions for potentially long periods at a time. Willingness to travel and work in potentially remote locations. Ability and willingness to learn and hit the ground running on various projects.
