Job Description

Summary

  • Organization: KPMG
  • Job Title: Audit Associate
  • Location: Toronto, ON
Employment Terms:
  • This is a full-time, salaried role (37.5 hours per week)
  • This role is hybrid (2-3 days per week in-office required); The specific days that in-office work is required varies and will be agreed upon with team/manager
  • Hours: 7 hours per day (8 during busy season)
  • Salary range:$43,000/year
  • Target Start Date: May 2024
Essential Tasks - In this job, you will:
  • Prepare audit working papers for specific areas such as cash, revenue, etc. using prior year files as a guide
  • Take client information and support and reconcile back to their financial statements/trial balances
  • Verify that the financial records are true and accurate and ensure the data reconciles back to the information. The candidate’s job would be to obtain transaction details for various areas, select samples, and obtain support from the client to verify and agree that it is correct (receipts, invoice all line up etc.)
  • Prepare and send third-party confirmations for various areas in the file (i.e. cash, receivables, etc.) to confirm the accuracy of the client’s records. Once the confirmations are obtained, the candidate’s job would be to tie out the numbers to financial statements/trial balances
  • Organize and prepare the client data for analysis

Digital/Technical Skills - In this job you will demonstrate:
  • Between Basic and Intermediate data management skills (such as formatting data and using appropriate text, colors, etc., and using basic functions such as SUM and subtraction) using Microsoft Excel
  • Between Basic and Intermediate formatting skills using Microsoft Word
Education/Knowledge - In this job you need to have:
  • A degree or diploma in Accounting or Business Administration or a degree or diploma in any field with relevant work experience in an Accounting role
  • An interest in pursuing a career in accounting (This position is not for future CPA candidates who are eligible to commence the CPA program in the next 24 months)
  • Knowledge or understanding of basic accounting principles, including journal entries and debits and credits, is nice to have but not required
Experience - In this job you need to have:
  • Experience navigating emails and scheduling calendar events using Microsoft Outlook and Teams or similar tools
