Job Description

Internship Opportunity (in Canada)iClassifier Inc. is a Canadian-based company that develops an AI-based tool to automate conformation traits classification for the dairy industry. iClassifier offers a great internship opportunity (3 months; Jan. 2022-March 2022) for a graduate in Animal Science (or related field) to actively interact with a team of Animal Scientists and Machine Learning engineers.If you are interested in being involved in developing an exciting product in the field of smart agriculture and you have the following skills, we invite you to apply for this position.NOTE: Please make sure that you meet ALL eligibility criteria listed below before applying. We will proceed with your application only if you meet ALL eligibility criteria.Eligibility: Candidate must meet “Youth Employment in NRC IRAP program” eligibility criteria:

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada, or person granted refugee status in Canada
  • Be 30 years old or younger at the start of the internship
  • Have a post-secondary (minimum diploma) degree
  • Able to work a minimum of 37 hours/week
Skills and Requirements:
  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Animal Science or related fields
  • Have fieldwork experience, preferably working with dairy cows
  • Have a valid driver license (having a vehicle is an asset)
  • Have a proven experience of working independently
  • Have experience of working with different software including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of image editing software, image processing, and machine learning will be an asset
  • Be a quick learner, highly organized, and self-managed
Responsibilities (trainee will have opportunities to extend his/her knowledge on):
  • Communicate, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of animal scientists and Machine Learning engineers
  • Traveling Locally and visiting different dairy farms
  • Collection data (taking photos in farms) using iClassifier’s mobile App
  • Pre-processed data and label data for model training
  • Write technical notes and documents related to conformation traits classification
  • Perform other duties as the project progress
