As Director of Corporate Services, you will play a crucial role in managing and directing the financial affairs of the Town. In this role, you will lead the New Glasgow Public Works team, ensuring seamless operations, effective planning, and unwavering commitment to our level of service parameters.Reporting to the Director of Engineering and Public Works, you will oversee the Transportation, Environmental Services, and Mechanical (Fleet) divisions, serving as the key interface for all public works services. Your responsibilities will encompass performance management, hiring and training, people management, project planning, and budget maintenance. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in asset management, climate action, and compliance with the Nova Scotia Accessibility Act.What qualities do we seek in the ideal candidateTo thrive in this position, you hold a degree in civil engineering (P.Eng. designation preferred) or a relevant engineering discipline, such as CET. Your practical engineering and construction experience, coupled with your direct responsibility for the design and construction of municipal public works assets, will set you apart as a highly qualified candidate. Your significant supervisory experience has equipped you with the necessary skills to effectively lead a team of approximately 40 unionized employees and supervisory staff.As an accomplished engineer, you possess exceptional time management and project management skills. Your understanding of engineering design principles, civil and municipal standards, and best practices will guide you in delivering excellence in every aspect of your work.
