It is an often difficult path and simultaneously the most rewarding experience for providers, children and families.Who we needReporting to the Senior Manager, Development and Communications, we are seeking a dedicated and passionate Donor Relations and Stewardship Officer to join our fundraising team at CDI. This is a brand new, highly visible role designed in consultation with our CEO. You will play a pivotal role in cultivating and maintaining positive relationships with our donors, ensuring their continued engagement and support by making them valued, appreciated, and connected to our organization #39;s mission. Who you areYou are deeply committed to the nonprofit world, and you are looking for the challenges and rewards of owning the donor relations aspect for Fund Development. You have experience across a full cycle of fundraising and exposure to all aspects, from grant research and writing to curating impact stories and cultivating targeted messaging for donors. You want to make your mark on our stewardship, introduce new methods of engaging donors, and contribute to a successful strategy that includes new ideas and approaches.What #39;s in it for youProfound purpose. You want to move the dial on individual donations, elevating the amounts contributed and the commitment offered. You want to learn and grow as part of a broader Fund Development, Marketing, and Communications team. You will be mentored by a manager deeply committed to nurturing the skills of her team and incorporating new ideas. You will be part of a supportive and diverse group of bright minds and fun personalities who share a passion for our mission.As our new Donor Relations and Stewardship Officer, you will:

  • Prioritize the donor experience. You will build and nurture relationships with individual, corporate, and foundation donors to foster long-term partnerships. You will gather donor feedback to understand their motivations and interests, adapting the organization #39;s communication and engagement accordingly. You will maintain frequent, personalized, warm communication with current donors while identifying and securing opportunities for renewed funding at current or higher levels.
  • Create compelling communications. You will collaborate with program staff to gather data and stories that demonstrate the impact of donors #39; support. You will craft persuasive messages and documents, including thank-you letters, impact reports, and project updates highlighting the results of their philanthropic efforts and inspiring continued support.
  • Collaborate. You will support the Senior Manager, Development and Communications by implementing donor cultivation strategies to engage current and prospective donors. You will work closely with the fundraising team to strategize and execute donor engagement plans to achieve our fundraising goals. You will work together to develop and implement fundraising campaigns, providing input on donor targeting, communication strategies, and stewardship activities. You will ideate, plan and coordinate donor engagement events, including appreciation gatherings, fundraising galas, and donor recognition activities.
  • Track and report. You will maintain accurate and up-to-date donor information in the organization #39;s donor database, ensuring compliance with relevant fundraising regulations. You will process donations, issue and provide receipts to donors and provide regular reports to the management team. You will track interactions and communication with donors to ensure effective relationship and stewardship management and research potential major donors and funding opportunities.
You have:
  • The experience. You are passionate about our organization #39;s mission and have a genuine interest in engaging donors with the cause. You have proven success in donor relations, fundraising, or a similar role within the nonprofit sector. Or, you may have lived or volunteer experience in child and family services with a combination of business development, logistics, and communications experience. You have knowledge of fundraising best practices, ethics, and compliance standards.
  • The communications expertise. You are an exceptional speaker and writer with a talent for crafting compelling messages. You can build rapport and nurture connections with donors, stakeholders, practitioners, and clients.
  • The collaboration skills. You are highly organized and supportive of new ideas and initiatives. You can contribute innovation suggestions and complete deliverables independently and on time. You are a dedicated and flexible team player able to interact with team members and colleagues at all levels of the organization with a deep respect and appreciation of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • The technical skills. You are proficient with MS Office Suite and database management. Ideally, you have worked with Raiser #39;s Edge and can group and analyze donor information to create targeted lists and customized messaging.
