A key objective of the NCNS is to improve the social, cultural, educational and employment situation of the rural, urban, off-reserve Mi’kmaq/Aboriginal peoples of Nova Scotia. “Going Forward To A Better Future”.POSITION TITLE: CHIP – Promotions Assistant- Short Term Position until March 31, 2023LOCATION & SETTING: Truro, NSEMPLOYMENT ROLE: Promotion of the Child Help Initiative Program (CHIP) in the Central/Northern area of the province to the rural, urban off-reserve Mi’kmaq / Indigenous Peoples. Administrative functions as related to the delivery of the CHIP Program.POSITION SCOPE: The Child Help Initiative Program is a program of the Native Council of Nova Scotia designed to create through community support and partnerships a brighter future for rural, urban, off-reserve Aboriginal children, ages 0 to 6 years and their parents, by helping them with a range of information, programming and supports for the family unit.Reporting directly to the Social Programs Manager, the CHIP Promotions Assistant will develop presentations, reach out to organizations, agencies, services and institutions that work toward like goals and objectives of the Native Council of Nova Scotia’s Child Help Initiative Program (CHIP). This position is intended to increase capacity and access for rural, urban, off-reserve Indigenous families. The incumbent will be responsible for the continued development, organization, coordination of Parent/Family Conference and will provide communications and coordination with all program co-workers, parent groups and other like agencies that support the goal of the program.KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
