Interpretive AssistantColchester HistoreumReports to: Jessica NeilThe Colchester Historeum Museum & Archives is in Truro, Nova Scotia, and operated by the ColchesterHistorical Society. We showcase the history of Colchester County through a core exhibit and feature temporary exhibits on fun and educational topics each year. Our museum is home to over 10,000 artifacts and the Archives houses thousands of records from around Colchester County.Candidates must be full-time student returning to, or entering an education program at a recognized university in the fall of 2023. Must be dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently with limited supervision. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, between the ages of 16 and 30 years, and without another full-time job.Job Description· Assist in daily operations of the Historeum and Giftshop.· Work Collaboratively with all staff and volunteers.· Responsible for admissions, operation of the cash register, and daily accounting when the Museum Administrator is unavailable.· Provide outstanding visitor service by welcoming Visitors to the Historeum and offering a tour of the gallery.· Responsible for creating an engaging and positive tour for visitors.· Assist the Events and Communications Coordinator with tasks pertaining to community outreach, social media, programming, and events.· Assist the Collections Coordinator with projects regarding artifact collection, such as database entry and research.Requirements:· Summer Student clause· Have strong communication and organization skills.· Be able to work individually, as well as collaboratively.· Proficient with basic computer functions; email, word, excel, data entry, etc.· Candidate must be able to read cursive writing.· Candidate must be able to speak English fluently.· Must provide Criminal record check with Vulnerable SectorsAssets· Basic Knowledge of archival and/or collections management· Speak and write French.· Experience in retail and customer service.· Experience in research.· Experience with Data Entry.· Knowledge of Nova Scotia History and the area.· First aid and CPR-COffer of employment is conditional on funding.Salary Range: $15.25/ 35 hours a weekPeriod of Employment: 14 weeksStart Date: May 23Deadline for applicationResumes and Cover letters can be sent to:Jessica Neil, Collections Coordinator[email protected]Job Type: SeasonalContract length: 14 weeksSalary: $15.25 per hourSchedule:
