Box 1320, Truro, NS B2N 5N2  Tel: (902) 895-1523  www.ncns.caAn Indigenous Advocacy Representative Organization representing, promoting and advancing the self-governinginstitutions and services of the off-reserve Aboriginal/Mi’kmaq of Nova Scotia, “Going Forward To A Better Future”.To further the objective of improving the social, cultural, educational and employment situation of the off-reserveMi’Kmaq/Aboriginal people.POSITION TITLE: Clean Energy Engagement FacilitatorLOCATION SETTING: 1 position – NCNS Truro Provincial Office, Truro, NSEMPLOYMENT ROLE: Education and Engagement / in partnership with the Clean Energy & Equity Network(CEEN) with Clean Foundation.POSITION SCOPE:Reporting directly to the appointed Manager of the Native Council of Nova Scotia, the Clean Energy EngagementFacilitator (CEEF) will be comfortable and familiar with various types of renewable energies and have excellent anddemonstrated communication and facilitation skills.In partnership with Clean Foundation, this position will work within a larger team established as the Clean Energy &Equity Network (CEEN). CEEN will work to increase the diversity and inclusionary policies in the energy andefficiency and renewable energy sector in Nova Scotia as well as, increase the knowledge of, and practicalexperience in, clean energy among the rural, urban, off-reserve Indigenous community of Nova Scotia. Throughcommunity engagement, the CEEF will develop and deliver engaging, community based workshops on clean andrenewable energy. This will be an exciting opportunity to join a meaningful new initiative and contribute to buildingknowledge and effective environmental change in the rural, urban, off-reserve communities across Nova Scotia.TYPICAL DUTIES:1. In consultation and collaboration with communities and the CEEN Engagement Lead, develop workshops onclean energy for communities of the Native Council of Nova Scotia;2. Facilitate and deliver these workshops for community members of all ages;3. Create or support the creation of clean energy literacy resources and materials for these communities;4. Remain current on renewable energy education ;5. Support the CEEN working group by reporting back results of these community workshops;6. Work effectively and respectfully with subject matter experts, community partners and stakeholders;7. Perform all other duties / projects as assigned by the CEEN working group and the Native Council of NovaScotia.QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in community education, e.g. facilitating and leading workshops with adults and working
with diverse groups;
  • Post-secondary education related degree considered an asset;
  • Experience working with diverse communities throughout the province, experience working in
employment and education initiatives with under represented communities will be an asset;
  • Experience working within programs that focus on energy efficiency, renewable energy and the
transition to a low-carbon economy will be considered an asset;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel and Presentations;
  • Team player, willingness to learn, optimistic;
  • Possess a wide scale of creativity;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Must be able to complete and pass a criminal background check;
  • Must have a valid Canadian driver’s license and have access to reliable transportation.
