The Social Worker will provide individual and family counseling; social work consultation and education services for patients admitted to hospital. The Social Worker will work with community systems at all levels, while recognizing each client’s right to self-determination. The Social Worker will provide psychosocial assessments, intervention and social work collaboration as a member of all acute care hospital based care teams and in our communities. The Social Worker will assist patients with problem solving; social, emotional, environmental, financial and legal challenges.About YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following:

• Must be registered (or eligible for registration) and a member in good standing with the Nova Scotia Association of Social Workers (NSASW)
• Bachelor of Social Work degree (BSW) from an accredited and approved School of Social Work/University Program
• 2 to 3 years experience in hospital based Social Work practice is required
• Must have the ability to work effectively as a team member of an interdisciplinary hospital based health care team and assume positions of leadership as required
• Must possess strong problem solving skills, the ability to think critically and have strong decision making abilities
• Demonstrated competency with computer applications; Microsoft Word; Excel; PowerPoint; email and Meditech
• Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
