These interventions include: psychosocial assessments, adjustment therapy, supportive therapy, crisis counselling, resource counselling, and discharge planning and case management.Health Care Social Workers are actively involved in advocacy, education, program planning, consultation and collaboration on behalf of individuals/groups within the institution and community. The role is multifaceted and dynamic, requiring each Social Worker to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams. The Health Care Social Worker is a licensed professional who practices in accordance with a set of National/Provincial Standards and Code of Ethics and Department Procedures, Politics and Standards. The Health Care Social Worker is responsible for supervising undergraduate and graduate students in work placements. The Health Care Social Worker provides consultation based upon an advanced level of education (MSW) which includes an integrated knowledge of the social, structural, emotional, psychological and cultural factors that affect well-being.About YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work
  • Current registration with relevant provincial regulatory body
  • Two years’ related clinical experience required (including assessment and planning, treatment and intervention and discharge planning)
  • Competency in CBT and DBT training/experience preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of standard criteria used (DSM V) for the classification and diagnosis of mental health disorders.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in providing individual and group evidence informed therapies based on care plan to clients with mental illness, substance use disorders, and/or concurrent disorders
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in collaborating with families in relation to sharing information, and implementing family-sensitive services that involve families in the care and recovery of people living mental illness and addiction.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in crisis intervention, suicide and violence risk assessment/ intervention
  • Non-violent crisis intervention and Suicide Risk Assessment preferred
  • Demonstrated awareness of community resources and programs.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational and prioritization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • High level of written/ oral/ interpersonal communication skills; experience with conflict resolution
  • Ability to work effectively in multiple software applications required
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently with limited supervision and participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent work record and attendance, and physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
  • Successful external applicants are required to provide a Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) and Child Abuse Registry to People Services before starting employment and assume any associated costs as a condition of employment
  • **Minimum two (2) years clinical experience required - If not available, candidates with less than two years’ experience may be considered for the selection process. If offered employment, they will be placed on the Clinical Therapist (Developmental) scale
