The Confederacy of Mainland MikmaqDepartment of Common ServicesHuman Resources AdministratorAbout CMMThe Confederacy of Mainland Mikmaq (The CMM) is a Tribal Council representing eight Mikmaq communities of mainland Nova Scotia. Our mission is to proactively promote and assist Mikmaq communities initiatives towards self-determination and enhancement of community. The CMM is located in the Millbrook Mikmaw Community in Nova Scotia and has over 120 Employees. The CMMs Department of Common Services is currently looking for an energetic, mature, and independent candidate to fill the role of Human Resources Administrator.Position OverviewThe Human Resources (HR) Administrator, under the direction of and reporting to the Human Resources Manager, will provide administrative support to the HR Unit.Overview of Responsibilities

  • Creates/formats all employment contracts for signature.
  • Ensures onboarding paperwork in prepared and distributed to new staff and filed when completed and advises The CMM Admin team of new staff onboarding.
  • Manages the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) as required.
  • Organizes and maintains all other files, documents, and information as needed for the HR Unit.
  • Provides clerical support for internal and external HR Committees, working groups, and interview boards.
  • Assist in planning events hosted by The CMM or member communities as needed.
  • Ordering office equipment (technology) as needed.
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects operations by keeping HR information confidential.
  • Provide administrative support for the organization on behalf of the HR lead for Occupational Health Safety.
  • Other related duties as required by the HR Unit of The CMM.
Position Requirements:
  • College Diploma or University Degree, with concentration in Human Resources, Business Administration, or other related discipline and/or combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Microsoft office, Excel Power Point etc.).
  • Highly organized with the ability to work effectively, to multitask and prioritize, and to meet tight deadlines in a demanding environment.
  • Able to work independently and proactively, with minimal supervision.
  • Proven interpersonal, team building, time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written, verbal and listening skills.
  • Familiarity with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) software such as Bamboo, Sage, ADP, etc.
  • Experience working in or with First Nation communities is an asset.
  • Interest/experience/education in the field of HR would be an asset.
  • Must have access to a vehicle, valid drivers license, and insurance with ability to travel.
