Position DetailsPosition InformationPosition Title Instructor of Computer Science (Truro Campus)Posting Number F374PType of position Limited TermDepartment/Unit Computer ScienceLocation TruroAbout the opportunityStarting in Fall 2023, the Faculty of Computer Science will expand to provide introductory course offerings at the Truro Campus. The Faculty is seeking candidates for a 3-year limited term instructor position to begin on or around May 1, 2023. The Instructor of Computer Science (Truro Campus) will be responsible for acting as the ambassador of our Computer Science programs on campus. This position is designed for an individual who has experience advising students and is interested in guiding and supporting the students in the cohort. In addition to taking on a leadership role to support CS students at Truro, the Instructor will be responsible for planning and teaching these key introductory computer science courses during the Fall and Winter terms:

  • 1105 Introduction to Programming
  • 1110 Introduction to Computer Science
  • 1120 Introduction to Computer Systems
  • 1170 Introduction to Web Design and Development.
As the sole Computer Science Instructor on the Truro Campus, the Instructor will work closely with the Associate Dean Academic, and other key Instructors on the Studley Campus, to ensure cohesion and collaboration between campuses in the management and delivery of course materials and curriculum. The position may involve other Faculty administration such as working with the Undergraduate Committee, Curriculum and Teaching Committee, or being asked to serve on one or more ad hoc committees. The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.The successful candidate for this position must meet the following requirements:
  • At minimum, a Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Experience teaching computer science or similar courses at the university level.
Additional desirable qualifications include:
  • A PhD in Computer Science or a related field is preferred, however not required.
  • Experience advising and supporting students would be an asset
