Machine OperatorStanfield’s, 1 Logan Street, Truro NS8:00 pm to 8:00 am Monday to Thursday(Interim Training Schedule: 8 am-8 pm Mon-Wed. 8 am-noon Thursdays)Term-Contract PositionDo you pride yourself in being a mechanically-inclined individual with a solid track record of learning new skills and having proven success with operating manufacturing production equipment If so, we may have the ideal opportunity for you! We are looking to welcome a Machine Operator to join Stanfield’s team of skilled professionals in our Laundry Department.Position Summary: The primary responsibilities for this role are to meet established production targets producing finished materials through the successful operation of Laundry Equipment. The incumbent will ensure the Team Lead is informed of the operational status of equipment they operate within the department. They will demonstrate a consistent approach to reduce and remove unplanned downtime that could negatively impact meeting performance targets.The Machine Operator will be required to complete training on a range of machines successfully. The individual will be moved to different machines/stages of the process based on progressive performance and production. The Machine Operator must adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety Requirements as per company policy and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.Key Responsibilities: Production

  • Master the Operation of assigned Dye House Machines to deliver consistent high-quality results
  • Perform all operations with a safety-first mindset demonstrating working knowledge of hazard identity and accident prevention
  • Continuously develop your expertise in the knowledge and skill of each machine ensuring you successfully run the various machines producing quality results
  • Adhere to all documented operational procedures including the scanning and continual monitoring of fabrics.
  • Accurately record key information such as fabric widths, output, defects
  • Consistently and accurately prepare chemicals
  • Other duties assigned
Collaboration and Quality Control
  • Monitor the quality and performance of machines and inform management of issues immediately
  • Continual monitoring of fabric quality both as it begins the process as well as the finished product.
  • Inform management and record issues immediately.
  • Follow all work procedures and processes consistently
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform all job functions safely and healthfully, abiding by and by all applicable Health and Safety company policies and government legislation/regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management which may include tasks in the Laundry Cutting or Knitting Departments.
Education and Experience:
  • High school or College diploma or equivalent experience
  • Operational experience within a manufacturing and production setting.
  • Experience managing under time constraints without direct supervision.
Skills:
  • Safe operation of pallet jacks
  • Attention to detail
  • Effective critical thinker with proven problem-solving skills.
  • Basic English reading skills as well as oral and written skills.

  • Physical Demand Medium Demand Category. Walking, sitting, lifting up to 50lbs regularly. Maximum push/pull force of 75lbs wet fabric from tubs – working with chemicals, climbing stairs. Levels of consistent warmer temperatures can be expected.
  • Mental Effort Low intensity with occasional higher levels of mental effort.
