Job Description

Job Type:RegularReporting to the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for all activities for the plant’s maintenance requirements. As a member of the plant management team, the Maintenance Manager is responsible to develop short, mid and long-terms strategies for improving the critical elements of the maintenance operations to meets the plant’s needs, and delivers on that strategy through effective deployment of financial, human and technical resources.Additionally, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for the following:

  • Developing and maintaining the site 5-years master plan in collaboration with Global Engineering;
  • Leading and motivating the maintenance team to excellence. This includes pro-active communications, engagement initiatives, individual feedback and coaching, and adhering to, and contributing to, the site’s employee and labour relations strategies, processes and policies;
  • Managing the plant’s capex budget envelope;
  • Developing and maintaining a culture of continuous improvement that is aligned with the Agropur Operating System (AOS);
  • Maintaining and improving upon the current preventative maintenance program to maximize the uptime of the equipment;
  • Setting, monitoring and meeting/exceeding key performance indicators (costs, labour, preventive maintenance completion, work order completion, workplace inspections, energy consumption, effluent, etc.);
  • Setting and executing the annual maintenance budget;
  • Providing the site teams and maintenance staff with technical support to resolve equipment related problems; Supporting the implementation of the operational excellence program (IWS) through ownership of the Progressive Maintenance (PM) Pillar for the site; Support all Corporate, Plant, Safety & Quality programs and Policies.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education including, but not limited to a Bachelor’s degree (mechanical, industrial, or electrical engineering is considered an asset) or a trade certification as an industrial mechanic, industrial electrician or a related trade;
  • 5 to 10 years of progressive maintenance experience in a manufacturing facility, including managing a maintenance team;
  • Proven record of leadership, communication, and organizational skills;
  • Exemplary communication skills, both written and oral, as well as highly developed interpersonal skills;
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performance work teams;
  • Proven record of leadership in the maintenance field;
  • Good knowledge of the best practices of maintenance and ability in leading change and driving improvement;
  • Continuous improvement or Lean Manufacturing Methodologies experience is considered an asset;
  • Experience in the food industry would be considered an asset.
